I received a phone call from a friend. Did you know XXX had a stroke?
I was shocked. That guy is hilarious, one known to take hard knocks. My friend added that XXX father had a remission of cancer, and his brother in law committed suicide and died. 3 extremely bad news in 1 year. I shaked my head.
I was reminded of a neighbour, who shared his boss was a scholar and one groomed in the corporate world. At 35, he had a massive heart attack and was rushed to hospital. He survived. Instead of leaving for home routinely at 8pm, he now leave work promptly to spend time with his young daughter.
A lady cousin once shared of a single mother who worked very hard to provide for extra tuition for her daughter. In the end, the mum died of exhaustion. Will money bring back the mum? Impossible.
A gentle reminder. We do not know about tomorrow. Running around in 5 minutes left me breathless with chest pain today. I have been pushing myself for many weeks. However, I am learning to say no and rather be a short term dad, I think I wanna hang around and be a long term dad. Hope my kids understand if they are deprived of some material comforts.
Cheers folks. Blessed National Day, Singapore. I may grouse alot, but when any enemy comes, I will not run away. Not very good in saying I love you.
